Green Headset - The Rest Of The Story
Mr. Green struck out, almost!
Finding a green Bluetooth headset manufacturer proved to be a difficult task.
While Motorola has developed green policies, I don't see much of that filtering down to the product level. I liked many of their Bluetooth devices, some giving me the appearance of a bald Robo-Cop...
Other paths lead nowhere in my search and I finally arrived with what I feel was a positive step toward "green".
What did I buy?
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
Now I won't look cool at the beach, but I reduced my carbon footprint by using AVAILABLE EXISTING RESOURCES, which in this case equals my TomTom Go700 GPS Unit.
I had forgotten that it has built in Bluetooth and will pair automatically with my Blackberry 8800.
After a few minutes of fumbling through the setup, every time the GPS turns on it pairs with the phone.
Now, I don't to worry about violating the California Wireless Headset Law.
I think someone forgot to tell the Burbank PD about the new law. I've seen a couple of their units blabbing away, phone in hand......
Come on guys... HANG UP AND DRIVE!

Show Me A Green Headset

I spend a lot of time with a cellular phone glued to my head, likely scrambling my brain with radiation. I certainly need all the brain cells that remain, and also want to comply with the new California Wireless Headset Law before the July 1st, 2008 deadline.
Wonder how many will ignore the wireless law, only to be stopped by Law Enforcement?
From what I understand, that little detour could cost you up to $190 in fines! That nice officer could also take you to jail for those unpaid parking tickets!
Better be safe than sorry, so I'm looking for a Bluetooth Headset. A "green" headset would be great to find, or at least a wireless headset from a "green" company.
Hundreds of thousands of Hands Free Headsets will be sold in California during the coming week as a result of the new wireless law. I'm going to take a look at the players and select my Bluetooth headset from the greenest manufacturer I can find, and will report WHY I choose their product. (not that anyone will lose sleep until I do! :)
If you know of a major cellular accessory manufacturer that is "green", would you comment and let us know?
The California Wireless Law should reduce accidents, however I still find any sort of phone conversation while driving can be distracting, so if you yap, be careful!
"Green" Headsets are GOOD! (if they exist)
Happy Thursday!

Becoming Mr. Green

Almost two years ago, during a ill chosen web development stint with a new company hoping to go public, I met a charismatic young man named Yeves Perez.
Yeves wanted to build a green building in San Diego, and in talking to potential investors, found obstacle upon obstacle that always seemed to keep him from seeing it come to fruition.
Why? No one really understood the concept of "green".
Most associated "green" with taking shorter showers, something I resisted as well for ages, yet there was a deep seated lack of education when it came to the "big picture".
Yeves approached me one day with an idea about a website, and a national organization behind it to educate and promote Green Investments, Green Ideas, Green Concepts, and Sustainable Development.
That idea turned into http://www.ecoinvestmentclub.com, with a humble start last March, culminating with number one rankings in Google for some of the top terms relating to Eco Investing.
Since that time, the Eco Investment Club has come to be recognized worldwide as the premier educational venue for Green and Sustainable Methods and Investments, and has expanded to become a part of a larger whole, known as the Eco Investment Network International, Inc.
We currently have Club Chapters in San Diego and Los Angeles, with this humble blogger being the head of the LA Club.
I have to tell you that I was not "green" a year ago, and I have received quite an education from some of the "greenest" in our world. Exposed to all that great green talent, I had no choice other than to let it soak in.
I truly believe that one of the most important lessons I have learned is that "less is more".
Kicking the plastic water bottle habit was my first major "Green Effort" and I find many following the same path in an effort to be more conscious of the waste we are putting out each and every day.
Living in Los Angeles, I have the opportunity to interface with a lot of great "green ideas" and I will share some of those with you through this venue, not for the purpose of recommending an investment, but simply to identify what I think are smart steps toward green progress.
Green is not going away this time. It was a fad in the 70's and now that people cannot deny the damage we are doing and have already done to the Earth, I truly believe that this time we can make a difference, reversing some of the damage done and leaving a cleaner-greener legacy for those that follow us.
I want to know what you see that is "Green" around you! I want to hear about your "Green" ideas and hope that my posts will encourage you to comment and submit your own ideas for this blog.
The Eco Investment Club, Los Angeles will have a mixer at the end of July and we would love to meet as many "Greens" as possible. Let me know if you would like to attend. There is no cost for this networking event, with date TBA. You don't have to be an investor or be wealthy to attend. We have something for everyone.
Green is good!
